Spiritual Garments

We know that when Jesus comes back he is looking for a bride without spot or blemish (2 Peter 3:14). Your spiritual garment, represents how you live, it must be pure, white, holy and having lived a life of obedience towards him. So upon his return, you shall be spotless and clean. If not, Jesus explains what will happen in the parable Matthew 22:11-14.

Garments or clothes in the physical world express who you are and what you are about. For example, if you are a lawyer and go to work in a suit people know you mean business and are serious, yet if you arrived in that courtroom in shorts and t-shirt, it would be a different story. The same is true in the spiritual realm: your spiritual garment should speak of who you are and what your purpose is. Many saints can be naked; this can be from sin which has opened doors to the enemy, allowing their garments to be stolen or removed. That is why purity is so important in the walk with Jesus, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. You see you can be walking around in the physical in designer clothes, yet be naked in the spirit or have on filthy vile garments attracting unclean spirits. Nakedness can carry a curse (Genesis 9:22). Throwing away your physical garment (old ways) can allow the true blessings to be birthed; this can be seen in Mark 10:49-52 when Bartimaeus removes his garment as a prophetic act, then Jesus heals him from blindness.

God is a good God and all our works are like dirty rags, but in his rich mercy towards us and by the power of the cross. he is able and just to remove our filthy garments and change it for a righteous one. The Bible says ”Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.“ (Zechariah 3:3-4)

Your prophetic destiny is in how you dress. In Genesis 3:21, God had to clothe Adam and Eve after they sinned in animal skins (possibly rams skin representing Jesus), as they became spiritual naked. Elijah (2 King 1:8) and John the Baptist (Mark1:6) both wore the same garments and when Elijah dropped his garment in by the Jordan river for Elisha, I don’t believe that it was a coincidence that the mantle split into two. I believe a territorial impartation was there to carry on the sound of repentance. Also when Lazarus rose from the grave it was commanded that his burial clothes be removed (John 11:44).

Just as you can take off certain garments such as stagnation, violence, poverty, fear, heaviness by asking the Lord to deliver you. You can also put on garments you do need in life, such as praise, worship and joy. Let us in this fast be conscious of our spiritual garments so we are always ready and waiting for our Lord and Saviour Jesus. We can best represent him by being an ambassador for him (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Daily manna to meditate on……

”Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, And for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.“Psalm 109:19 KJV

”(“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake and who keeps his clothes [that is, stays spiritually ready for the Lord’s return], so that he will not be naked—spiritually unprepared—and men will not see his shame.”)“Revelation 16:15 AMP

”Let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head.“ Ecclesiastes 9:8 ESV

”Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; Violence covereth them as a garment.“ Psalm 73:6 KJV

Food for thought……

What are you clothed in?
