Day 2.
When you look at salt in the palm of your hand, what do you see? Not much right? Yet, In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth. His words causes us to look at ourselves in the light of this truth. Physically we are made up of salts and minerals, but spiritually I believe that Jesus is telling us that ,we should be purified and preserved in a covenant with him so that he can dwell within us, for the purpose of him using our lives to impact others.
So how are you doing so far in this fast?
Some of you on this day may be battling the detoxification process in the form of headaches, this is very common, especially for all of you who drink a lot of caffeine and are used to sugary snacks. Headaches are the body's way of letting you know it’s out of balance of essential electrolytes (sodium & potassium). This will rebalance in the coming days with drinking plenty of water/electrolytes or a simple granule of Celtic salt before each glass of water.
These spectacular granules the Lord has blessed us with have many powerful uses. Salt enhances flavour in foods, preserves meats, can be used as a disinfectant for purification, and was used in currency and part of temple offering. (Ezekiel 43:24) Just think we can be used as spiritual currency.
You are a Believer preserved in Christ
Jesus is our preserver and sustenance in this fast (John 4:16). As long as we remain in him, we become salt preservative in this world. When we fail to look at him continuously, we will subsequently fall short of glorifying him in deed and thought. Which is why we must not get too comfortable relying on our own understanding and strength. As disciples in Christ it is important that we preserve the truth in this fallen world, by sprinkling ourselves amongst the ‘flavourless’ world. It is time to enrich others according to Colossians 4:6 which teaches us to “Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person” (NAS)
Today, as you continue in this fast, I pray that you will never lack salt in the coming days ahead.
Daily manna to meditate on……
”When you offer them before the Lord, the priests shall throw salt on them, and they will offer them up as a burnt offering to the Lord.“ Ezekiel 43:24 NKJV
”Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.“ Colossians 4:6 KJV
”And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.“ Leviticus 2:13 NKJV
”“For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.” Mark 9:49-50 NKJV
