Our belief statement.

Last updated: May 30, 2024

We at the Cave of Adullam believe in:

  • The One True God.

There is only one true living God who is perfect (Matthew 5:48; Psalm 18:30) and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 10:36, 1 John 5:7). The triune Godhead share equal divine attributes and are all involved in the salvation of mankind.

  • The inspired word of God.

The Bible is the revealed Word of God to humanity: it is eternal and true and it is through our belief in his word, we are saved. ( romans10: 17)

  • The Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God who has taken on human nature in the incarnation. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His recorded miracles, in His atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18, 23; Luke 1:34-35).

  • The Holy Spirit.

We believe in the presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit whom Jesus sent in his name to bare witness of Jesus, convict humanity of sin, regenerate our hearts, guide us to truth, and empower us for spiritual life (John 14:26, John 15:26)

  • God as Creator.

We believe that the Triune God created the heavens and the earth. Isaiah 40:28, Genesis 1:2; Acts 17:24; Hebrews 1:2. We believe that Everything originated from God (Jeremiah 10:16; James 1:17; Revelation 10:6). He did not need pre-existing materials nor an evolutionary process to create the universe and all that is in it. We believe in the narration of the history of creation found in the first eleven chapters of Genesis (Psalms 102:25; Acts 14:15).

  • Satan.

We believe that Satan was originally created a perfect being. We believe that Satan choose to rebel against God ( (Ezekiel 28:15; Isaiah 14:12–17). As a result, of his rebellion he became morally corrupt and an accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10), a tempter (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5), and a deceiver (Genesis 3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:3) he is known as the devil the adversary of God and His people. Satan led a host of angels who fell with him. We believe that Satan has been judged at the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. We believe that Satan’s destiny is sealed. At Christ’s second advent, Satan will be defeated and he will be cast into the Abyss for 1000 years. He will then be liberated to deceive the nations for a short time after he will spend eternity in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10, Ephesians 2:2; I Thessalonians 3:5; I Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:9; 20:1-3; 7-15).

  • The Fall of Man.

We believe in the clear historical record of the fall of man found in Genesis 3. We believe that Man who was created good, voluntarily broke the commandment of God by eating of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. The transgression led to the fall of man which led to the loss of both physical, spiritual and eternal life. We believe sin separated Man from God and man was cut off from the purpose for which he was created. (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19).

  • The Salvation of Man.

We believe that mankind’s only way for redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Salvation is an all inclusive word of the Gospel that includes all the redemptive acts and processes.
We believe that Salvation is received through repentance toward God and our confessed faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation includes the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. We are justified by grace through faith.
(John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11, 3:5-7).

  • Holy Communion.

We believe that The Lord's Supper is an ordinance instituted by Christ for the commemoration of his death until his return at the second advent ( Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26). The communion symbolises the death of Christ for our sins and sicknesses ( Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Peter 2:24). We believe that communion consists of two main elements - unleavened bread ( a symbol of the body of Christ) and the fruit of the vine ( a symbol of the blood of Jesus) Exodus 12:39, Luke 22:13, 1 Corinthian 5:7-8, Matthew 26:29. We believe that this ordinance should be partook of in faith, appropriating the benefits it stands for ( 1 Corinthian 11:27-30)

  • Baptism in Water.

We believe that the holy scriptures command the ordinance of baptism by full immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We believe that everyone who repents and believes on Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour should be baptized. Water baptism, is an outward declaration to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4).

  • The Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire. We believe that this is the promise of our Father and a command from our Lord Jesus Christ to us. We believe that Spirit baptism is the immersion of the believer in the Spirit and that the believer receives the Spirit in his life in all fullness and without measure (Luke 24:49). The believer is endued with ‘power from on high’, to do the works of Christ ( John 7:37-39). We believer that the outward evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the physical sign of speaking in other tongues. This is because the Spirit of the Lord gives us utterance to do so (Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6).

  • The Church and Its kingdom assignment.

We believe that the church is the body of Christ who have been divinely appointed for the fulfilment of the great commission. The Body of Christ have been called to be the ‘ light’ that shines (Matthew 5:14), the ‘salt’ that preserves ( ( Matthew 5:13) and ‘evangelists’ that preach the Gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15), making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). The church have been called to ‘love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves’ (Luke 10:27).

  • The Fivefold Ministry.

We believe that the purpose of the church found in Ephesians 4:11-16, is to:

  • Evangelise:
    (Mark 16:15-20);
  • Worship God
    (John 4:23-24); and
  • Equip the Saints
(Ephesians 4:11).This ministry utilises the offices of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers for the purpose of equipping, building, unifying, teaching and maturing believers to the stature and fullness of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16).
  • Plant churches ( 1 Corinthians 3:6)
