My Father’s business

When Jesus was here in the flesh we heard him say to his earthly parents that he must be about his Father’s business (Luke 2:49). Luke 2:49 provides us with a powerful reminder, that daily we too must be about our Father’s business. It is so easy to get caught up in the trials of life and become absorbed in what God can do for us and what we perceive we need in life. When really and truly God will take care of all things, as we take care of his, and make him our priority.

So what does it mean to be about the Lord’s business? Well we all have something unique to offer. We all want to serve his will while we are here in our fleshly bodies. It is the Lord himself that knitted us together for a specific purpose (Psalm 139). All the struggles and pains we may have endured throughout our life, will all work for our good and for his glory (Romans 8:28).

What makes this revelation so powerful is, that an ex-criminal born again, now a new creation in Christ has the understanding and insight in how to reach the bound in prisons. Similarly, an ex-drug addict can minister to the tormented and lost, a teacher can have the wisdom to implement Godly counsel and the list goes on. We are all living testimonies of his sacrifice on the cross, also his mercies, grace and goodness. The Lord deserves all the glory and honour. Hallelujah!

It's not just about our profession and occupation, be it a doctor, mother, husband, mechanic, cleaner or what we once were. But who we are in Christ and how we can influence & infiltrate these places. Our example is always Jesus. Even from an early age, when he was in the temple, being in his Father’s presence, reading the scriptures, and praying, we see that his first priority daily was before the Lord. We too must kneel before the Lord or prostrate on the floor (and not from our bed) seeking him. We should seek him not just last thing in the day or when we are fasting. We should be spending quality relational time, living for him. Everything should be for him. In all we do, do it for the Lord, to our upmost best. The Holy Spirit will guide, mould and shape you in the ways you should go. We must be obedient to what the Lord has called us to do in all aspects in our walk with him, because obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).

Daily manna to meditate on……

”I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.“ John 13:34

”And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’“ Matthew 25:40

”For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”“ John 6:40

Food for thought…….

What changes in your life can you make, so that you can be more about your heavenly Father’s business? In this season have you been called to do something, that will glorify him in your own unique way?
