”Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.“(Proverbs 18:21).

The enemy knows this and will often use this as one of his tactics, by legal grounds you have just given him through your own mouth.

”He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction (Proverbs 13:3). Can you see the divine wisdom in that scripture? Most of you at some point, will have experienced this or heard it said in another way, ‘Think before you speak’ or my own personal favourite is ‘Don’t say or do anything which can be made permanent by a temporary situation or feeling’. I know this may seem easier said than done, but this is why those of us following Christ and being rooted in him will prevail. We need to remind ourselves daily that life is spiritual and we do not fight against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). When a person speaks from a place of anger and you react on it, they have disarmed you in the spirit realm”. You should not allow the enemy to use the power of your tongue to proclaim situations over your life, but instead use the word of God daily to speak life over yourself, and loved ones. The word is not only your daily bread but a powerful weapon when spoken aloud.

The best way we can also use our tongues for good is by speaking in them. Tongues of the Holy Spirit is a supernatural language not understood by the mind of the speaker or by the majority of people. It is a powerful daily weapon in this fast to edify your spirit (Jude1:20). By praying in tongues it allows you to fully rely on your faith, in order that your prayers are heard as it is a direct access (hotline) to the father.

When you don't know what to pray the Spirit does. Praying in tongues will help activate and charge your spiritual self and also confuse the enemy as it is a language he cannot interpret or understand. Can you can see how powerful this is when used constantly for long periods of time. I would encourage you to start at a minimum of half an hour then progress to an hour a day. You will truly see and feel a difference in your growth and spirit. Speaking in tongues tames the tongue which James says is the most unruly member of the body (James 3:1–12). Apostle Paul’s states ”I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you“(1 Corinthians 14:18). Let us aspire to be like Paul and pray without ceasing as much as we can in this fast and in our relationship with Jesus. (1Thess 5:17) If you do not yet have the gift of speaking in tongues seek the Lord ask for the Holy Spirit. God loves to give spiritual gifts to his children. Do not be put off if it does not happen right away be persistent keep asking and surrendering unto him.

Daily manna to meditate on…….

”For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.“(I Corinthians 14:2)

”And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;“(Mark 16:17)

Whatever you bind on earth with be bound in heaven (Matt 18:18)

Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.(Matthew 18:19)

Food for thought…….

What circumstances or behaviours allow you to be pulled into your flesh to disarm you in the spirit? What is the best time of the day to set for you to try and increase you daily devotional of speaking in tongues?
