God’s mercies fuels his compassion towards us. His tender mercies reveal his forgiveness, empathy and kindness. Everyday someone transgresses the commands of God, and every day because of the mercies of God he chooses to extend his expression of love towards his people and forgive them of their sins. Ephesians 2:4-5 states “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV)
Today we want our lives to be enriched by God’s mercies. We are saved not because of what we do, instead Titus 3:5 says “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”
Scripture warrant:
Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight.” — Psalm 119:77
For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
Let us pray:
Lord, have mercy upon me. For my mind has been hostile towards you. It would not subject itself to your will. I acknowledge that this displeases you. For this reason, I repent for my hostile rebellion towards you, in the name of Jesus. (Romans 8:7-8).
Lord, have mercy upon me. I have contaminated myself with my own selfish actions, belief systems, lusts, fears and idolatrous knowledge. I repent for my transgressions against you, in the name of Jesus (Isaiah 64:6).
Lord, have mercy upon me. I have rejected the truth of God, and as a result defaced the image of God that I was called to bear. I repent of my transgressions against your holy character, in the name of Jesus. (Romans 6:6, Genesis 1:26).
Lord, have mercy upon me. I have on numerous occasions chosen to come off the path of eternal life and walk according to the course of a fallen world and not according to the will of God. I repent of my waywardness, in the name of Jesus. (Ephesians 2:2).
Lord, have mercy upon me. I acknowledge that I have not submitted my sexual appetite to your will and therefore I have allowed myself to fall into the sin of fornication, masturbation, fantasies, adultery, lusts, illicit thoughts and dreams. I repent of my sexual immorality, in the name of Jesus.
Lord, have mercy upon me. I acknowledge that I have not submitted my will to you. In my pride I done my own will, went my own way, listened to my own counsel and forsook the will of God found in Christ Jesus. I repent for my idolatrous ways, in the name of Jesus.
Lord, have mercy upon me. I acknowledge that I have not submitted my emotions unto you. I have allowed myself to become emotionally unstable, irrational, incapable and self-righteous because I failed to be washed and renewed in the mind, by the sanctifying word of God. I repent for not studying to show myself approved, in the mighty name of Jesus. (Romans 12:1-2).
Lord, have mercy upon me and let your mercies visit me and deliver me from all forms of stubbornness, pride, insolence, arrogance, willpower rebellion, intimidation, control, and an inclination towards sin. (Isaiah 64:6).
Lord, have mercy upon me. Let your mercies come to me Lord and deliver me from my moral inability, as a result of me failing to obey your word, hating your holy commands, refusing to submit you to your holy counsel, and becoming hostile to your will. I repent, in the name of Jesus
Lord, have mercy upon me. Deliver me Lord with your tender mercies and arrest my will, as I realign my posture before you. Today I declare that I will no longer reject, repress and hate the truth of God, concerning, my home, my family and my life. I will now submit to the will of God in the name of Jesus.
Lord, have mercy upon me. I have regularly exchanged your incorruptible glorious image, in my life, for an image in the form of corruptible man and the created idols of this world, I no longer desire to be like man, I desire to be like you, in the name of Jesus. (Romans 1:23).
Father Lord, let your enduring mercies, deliver me from the decaying presence of sin and its penalty of death, that seeks to morally corrupt me. I offer my life to you as a living sacrifice, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
