Scripture Focus
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
— Galatians 2:20
Reflection
Many believers identify with Christ only in name or church attendance, without fully walking in the identity that His death and resurrection secured. Christianity is more than association with a faith group — it is union with Christ Himself. In Him, we are given a new identity, one that allows us to identify with Him in His death, burial, resurrection, suffering, glory, and triumph.
True identification with Christ is not passive — it is transformational. It means dying to sin, living in the power of the Spirit, and walking in obedience as heirs of His glory.
Ways We Identify With Christ
- Confess your sins — Confession aligns us with the cleansing work of Christ on the cross (1 John 1:9).
- By faith in Christ — Our faith unites us with His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:1–8; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4). We trust in His name (Acts 4:12), His Word (John 15:7), and His blood (Romans 3:24–25).
- Walk and live by the Spirit — The Spirit empowers us to live as sons and daughters of God, free from condemnation (Romans 8:1–14).
- Crucify your flesh — By denying sinful desires, we walk in newness of life (Colossians 3:5–10; Galatians 5:24).
Scriptures to Meditate On
- Romans 6:4 — “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
- Colossians 3:3–4 — “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
- Philippians 3:10–11 — “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
Prayer
Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family through Christ. Today I confess my sins and yield my life to You. Help me to truly identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Let His life be formed in me, His Spirit guide me, and His Word shape me. I crucify my flesh and choose to walk in the newness of life You have given. May my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Christ in me, the hope of glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
