Scripture Focus
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.”
— Ephesians 1:3–6

Reflection

Adoption is central to God’s plan of redemption. It is a legal act in which God places repentant sinners into His family through Christ, granting them the full rights of His children. By the Spirit of adoption, we are no longer slaves to fear but sons and daughters who cry out, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).

Yet many believers know they are adopted but fail to embrace the fullness of this new identity. Being in God’s family means more than carrying His name—it means enjoying His provision, protection, guidance, and love. As His children, we inherit:

  • Christ Himself (John 1:12; Acts 4:12)
  • The Spirit’s power (John 1:12)
  • The family character (Galatians 5:16–24)
  • Provision and supply (Matthew 6:33)
  • Healing and wholeness (Matthew 8:17)
  • Rights and privileges of prayer (Mark 11:22–24)
  • Gifts and graces for service (1 Corinthians 12:4–11)

Through adoption, God reveals His fatherly role as provider, protector, and guide (Psalm 68:5; Ephesians 3:14–15).

Steps to Embrace Your Adoption

  1. Spend time communing with God the Father (Galatians 4:7).
  2. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you (Romans 8:14–17).
  3. Welcome God’s loving discipline (Hebrews 12:5–6).
  4. Fellowship with the family of believers (1 Timothy 5:1–2).
  5. Immerse yourself in the Word.
  6. Yield to God’s plans and steward your gifts (1 Peter 4:10).
  7. Walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
  8. Reflect His holiness in daily living (Philippians 2:14–15).

Today, in this fast, yield yourself to God’s fatherly care. Commune with Him in His presence and let Him reveal His love to you as His child.

Scriptures to Meditate On

  • Galatians 4:4–5 — “God sent forth his Son… to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
  • Romans 8:15 — “The Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”
  • 1 John 3:1 — “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”

Prayer

Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family. Reveal to me Your fatherly love, counsel, and protection. I boldly declare that I am no longer a stranger or foreigner but a member of the household of God. Teach me to walk daily in the privileges of my adoption. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Question

How can embracing the love and identity found in adoption transform the way you live, love, and relate to others today?
